YET ANOTHER UPDATE (5/26/09): Auto insert feature is BACK! Woo Hoo! Read more here.
UPDATE (3/11/09): If you are using Profile 2.0 and the background didn’t show, it’s our bug not MySpace 😀 We’ve wrote a post on how to fix it so read it here! https://guidingvoices.wordpress.com/2009/03/10/dont-see-the-background-on-profile-20/
So MySpace didn’t like the auto insert functionality from gigya for some security reason so we had to take that very convenient feature out. They told us to use their “Post It” tool and we tried it but it SUCKS for layouts. Have you guys tried this “Post It” tool? I think it works great for graphics or videos to embed on your profile. But for layouts, it just doesn’t make sense.
Here are the things we didn’t like about that tool.
1) Since it’s CSS code that we are inserting, they try to apply that CSS to that preview page itself 😦 and since it’s not compatible, the whole page looks all screwed up. (as you can see the sparkle background is appearing on random places.)
2) There are 3 choices to choose where to paste it, and 2 of them won’t work (the bulletin and blog).
3) It does NOT work for posting a Profile 2.0 layout!!
We thought this was way too confusing so decided not to use this tool.
We are pretty sure many people will miss this functionality as last time we were told to show only codes, lots of our users weren’t happy (58 comments!) I already see many people confused again because they are pasting the code in our shout box 😦
All we can do now is to hope for MySpace Post It tool to work for layouts!! I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to make it compatible, because customizing layouts is what made MySpace popular, don’t you think?? 🙂

i think it sucks now because it so much harder to create and post ur layout i mean now i cant put a new layout on automatically i think tht pplm who want auto should have it and the ppl tht feel insecure well they do not have to use cool chaser at alll but we should not have to suffer now it takes more time at the day to figure out where it all goes i tthink ppl should do something about if u do not trust cool chaser than do not use it every1 else wants it i believe i f i was in in charge i make and a ggreement for useing the coolchaser or put use at ur own risk tht way if any thing happens ut is ur problem not us and not cool chaser this is so mess up and i am so mad i am actually posting this i hate posting stuff number 1 i am lazy to type anything but i better get use to it since nothings gonna be automatic but for me to write and post this should be noted and i hope every1 helps mout by posting about this issue so if u read this help me abd ohthers with our issue and post ur opion mabey they might hear us out m -_- ^_^ ~ ~

I wondered what happened to my profile page. my header text changed from orange to white, I really don’t like this,it stands out too much.I spent a lot of time getting it just the way I wanted it.last night I spent 2 hours trying to change it back with no success.I’m sure there are many people like me who are getting very frustrated with myspace constantly changing the rules.if they keep this up,I’ll close my myspace account and use another network.

Janet, we wish we could bring back the auto insert 😦 We’re pleading with MySpace to come out with a better auto insert tool. Rumors have it that one is in the works!
Another disadvantage of the MySpace PostTo tool is that it doesn’t remove previously layouts. You have to do this manually or settle with a screwy layout 😦

Dear Myspace Coolchaser,
I had just signed up for coolchaser a week ago today. What I did was i had tried one of their layouts and it seemed fine then. So, tonight I have done the same thing and for some odd reason it just wont let me place any new layouts that I really enjoy on my profile which really sucks and I can’t quite figure that out. I at first thought something was wrong with this program and I even saw that their asking me for some kind of code for security reason. Since when has all this started I wonder. Because I can’t figure out at all on where to type in the code. It’s pretty frustrating and I certainley hope we can get all this back up and running again especially since I’m new to the program and don’t plan on sticking with my current layout. So if possible, could you guys let me know whenever we get it all taking care of again so I can start changing my layouts once again. I really like Coolchaser but a bit dissapointed tonight with it though!!

Hey guys, we are sorry that there are no auto insert but once you get used to pasting codes, it’s not that hard. Also people saying “i’ll get a layout else where” you still have to copy and paste codes on those sites, just to let you know..

What is everyone freaking out on coolchaser about? Its not their fault that they are being forced to stop using a service.
Shutting down the auto insert is a security measure myspace decided to take to try and combat all the myspace hacking that they hear complaints about constantly.
All the auto insert did was simplified an already simple process of profile layouts. If you do not understand how to update your profile, why do you have to bash coolchaser? Go out and read one of the hundreds of tutorials on how to change your layout. You can still get the code and layouts from coolchaser, you just have to post the new code yourself.

i LOVE coolchaser! you guys make creating a customized, unique layout SO easy! plus you have layouts and background images i can’t find anywhere else.
however……
I HATE MESSING WITH LAYOUT CODES!!! i tried changing my layout yesterday, and my background image wouldn’t show up! i wish myspace wouldn’t be so picky about stuff like this. first, they delete everybody’s “project playlist”music and make us all use they’re stupid “myspace music” playlists, and now this!
if i didn’t have so many friends who were only on myspace, i’d probably delete my profile!-fallon

I really hate this! the only reason I was using cool chaser is because I could change my layouts quickly without all the extra fuss. I am relaly hoping that either Myspace changes their mind and allows Coolchaser to add auto update back, or that they figure somethign else out! My background and everything looks totally different than it did on the coolchaser site now and it is too much of a pain to fix it!!!

This is ridiculous!! i ve been on here for an hour trying to do thid and ive done everything that was instructed to make it work so when it says profile updates and i go to view it it doesnt show up but the code is still copied in the “about me” section IDK but i really wanted these layout(s) so does this mean i have to go to another site and do another layout from somewhere else!! that sucks im thinking about makiin a whole new myspace and shit after having this one for 2 years!!! I have found CoolChaser to be the BEST layout site!!!!
Every thing is unique, and what I like best is you can make your on. I have been using CoolChaser layouts since I found the site, what made it even better instead of me copy and pasting it, CoolChaser would do it for me.
WHATS the deal, unless there are viruses that have been transferred with code. I don’t understand.
I had just changed myspace to 2.0, so that my layouts could benefit everyone that enjoys nature. I am speechless Tom wont allow it, since their are more people using layouts here, and can tweak it. I have told EVERYONE ONE ABOUT COOLCHASER!!
I did try loading layout code into “My Yearbook” I read how to load it, step by step, and I wasn’t able to get it to work.
I can ALWAYS get the layouts to work other than that, everything I have used has been PERFECT!!
This was the best idea someone came up with, allowing everyone to get involved. The only issue I have is Themes, I have tried to create one, but I need “Themes for Dummies”…lol
I could do it if I knew more about it. lol
Also, I would like to see who ever created there on layout to have their name on it. I have looked for this when I preview, it’s not there, only who created themes.
I didn’t know what “snatched” meant either, and I was deleting some layouts. Would like to know what this term means.

I would really like to know what is going on MySpace? I think it has now become YourSpace! First you change our playlist to your really horrible one & stop the music with ads all because of “royalties to the artists”?? I have a music production company..sell that one to someone else. Then you have the comments so messed up that each picture reads the same comment as the previous one, the mail…I won’t even go there. I have never auto-inserted a code and have used many sites for layouts with no problems, but when I went to change one thing on my same 2.0 layout, it took the code alright, but changed my font color and now I have 3 different colors! This is wrong on so many levels..oh and please stop with the status/mood. We don’t need a “widget ” on our profile page. Everyone can see these just fine from the homepage. Please address the real issues here okay? Thank you.

I’m not understanding why this is so hard for everyone to manually post the codes!
If you are in 1.0, you post the code in the ABOUT ME section.
In 2.0, you go to customize profile and post there.
If codes are already there, first just do CONTROL A (which selects all) and hit the DELETE key…that will remove all the old codes. Then you just paste the new code in the sections I mentioned above…

Why is it no matter where you go, there are the select few that piss and moan and get their way? They totally ruined the nice set up we had with the auto insert. If they were worried about security, they obviously can’t flippin’ read, otherwise they would have seen the code that they could copy and paste themselves. Send the friggin’ pansies back to Pimp My Profile and leave Coolchaser to the cool people!

You know what after all that hard work I’ve put into my coolchaser to all you guys who have been experiencing the same issue I have with layouts. I finally figured something out!! So, what I did was clicked on watch video which I found helpful, so I basicly went and clicked where it says copy to my myspace profile, and then went up and clicked onto my profile go down where it says costomize click on it, it should bring you right into your costomize list all you do is that you click on where it says no theme first, then you click on CSS go down below in the box click on select all and delete it and right click on it again and look for where it says paste it so the code gets in their, and last but not least you click on publish and you should have your Coolchaser layout you requested it worked for me and sure darn proud of it too. So, hope this advice gets you guys somewhere, all it does is require some more steps then how they usually would have it however, you can still use coolchaser though that’s the whole point of this. Hope this works!!

Well, at first I was like WTF! I use coolchasers cause its easy to get what you want and no hassle on pasting codes. I cant believe Myspace would do this after at least a year, thats how long ive been using this site. It really isnt that hard after reading the convenient instructions on the right side. Thanks for supplying that for us. Its sad though, alot of people will start using other sites again due to having to copy and paste again!

i’m going to start a friigin petition… to either 1) encourage all my friends AND theirs, blow up myspace’s (Tom’s) email with complaints and requests to partner with CoolChaser, or 2) move to, and encourage ALOL MY FRIENDS AND THEIRS, to move to FACEBOOK… regardless of compatability!!
What a BUNCH of crap!!! Thanks to COOLCHASER i’ve able to trick out my profile to match my music…. now i cant do SQUAT!!! IM PISSED!!!!

THis is bu115h!T something happened to my last profile from here it wont change when i try to post another different layout. I think its because the layout that i have now was auto inserted and now its gone and it seems like my profile is permanent. I tried everything to get rid of it. Nothing works i want to know how to take it off. So i can put another one. I already erased all my codes from The edit profile boxes but my profile wont erase………

this sucks without the auto insert~ the layout works but I can’t get the backgrounds to appear. Been trying over and over for 2 hours~ done with trying. Myspace needs to find a better way to work with you on this. this sucks!!!! i’ve been trying to change my layout for a week now and every time i try my layout gets all screwed up. for instance, when i copy the code and preview my profile it shows my background but not my layout pics…… now i cant change it and i’m getting sick of my current one…………. you guys should get the auto insert back or im never gonna use coolchaser again

OK, well I just want to say to the MySpace idiots that made you remove the auto insert..YOU SUCK! That was by far the best feature and is why I have always chosen Cool Chaser to customize my profile. Alot of businesses are blocking MySpace and this way we could change our profile and it not be a hassel. Having the 2.0 profile is enough of a pain in my butt, but now I’ve got to go through this..I’m pissed!

You know though, of all the site out there for myspace layouts yours is not only the best but the safest.
I’ll always use coolchaser and recommend it to everyone I know.
My suggestion is start writting myspace.

I think the “Post it” choice is absolutely ridiculous… its more difficult, and it takes twice as long, you would think that Myspace would want to use something that is very easy for its users!! I dont know, I just dont understand!!

I had no problem with the myspace version ,I am trying to put the code into the ebay blogs ..not as easy over there. They disallowed some codes that was put into the CSS. The http:coolchaser something or another.

ok so this is bullshit! this is the first time in months i’ve tried to change my myspace layout and i already have a coolchaser layout. now i want this one i just customized. i understood why there wasn’t an auto insert so i tried to do it myself and when i deleted the old layout it went back to normal. right? so then i pasted my code into my about me section and it went right back to the layout i just freaking deleted. what the hell am i supposed to do to get it to work? i even edited the code so it would be compatible with myspace and this is the only wedsite i like for layouts but the codes wont work the only ones that will are the ones i made before the auto insert went off. i am an easily frustrated person and if i dont figure this out i am sure i will have no more computer left for me to worry about getting on here to fix my profile. why won’t it work? i just wanna cooler page hence coolchaser.com and yes that whole myspeace post it thing is stupid. everytime i try to use it to post something in to anything but my blog it freezes my computer and then randomly opens newwindows with my profile and new post in it. each time it opens like 25+ boxes and i cant even shut down or log off right, i have to do the short cut and my computer hates that and my husband yells at me for being stupid and makes me not wanna use myspace or anything i touch because he blames it on the site and its just that stupid post it tool. anywho….PLEASE HELP ME?!!!!!!!

also, all it does is add my background and not my theme. same with project playlist and everywhere else. you cant use anything unless its theirs or is off a wesite that has their name on/in it or they sponsor or some crap like that. its ridiculuous that myspace is making it so that you can’t actually do anything cool. i thought myspace was a way to reach out to friends and people around the world and show off your personality with out going in to some chat room full of horny wrinkly old men whores and nerdy teenagers trying to cyber you. this sucks. i like imvu because you have your own profile and set everything the way you want like myspace and you got an avatar that you can make look how you want…even pregnant or an animal, and it has a chat room and iming……soooooo much better. but everyo0ne has myspace so it should be easier only it isnt when everyone on is busy fighting with their shit trying to get it to do and look and sound the way they want. and now im hungry.

so i found out almost all of the sites that myspace no longer allows……cool chaser being one of them. so this whole its us not them thing is a lie. myspace discontinued use of any playlists except amazon, itunes,theirs or the artists websites playlists. no more playlists and each one i named only allows at the most 20 songs. myspace layouts can only be done by either new sites or myhotcomments, pimp my profile, webfettie and i forgot the other one, graphics can be done by most sites except ones like this and another site that’s cool but was banned by users because the refused to use myspaces auto post it feature. it sucks but like i said, wanna fix your profile using cool chaser, get something like imvu or secondlife or anyother profile based website. sucks and im angry but they make money off their site and if people are doing things from other sites it might mess up theirs or take from their profits. i still love cool chaser though?!!!!

NOTHING about computers! ‘I’ managed to figure out deleting from the about me portion of the edit profile then the ‘copy’ button then the ‘paste’..HEY people, its not as hard as you’re making it! It’s relatively EASY, and in the end it gives you POWER!
What a rush..a computer do-do,did it. NOW I’ve figured out how to create ‘MY OWN’ theme..WOW!!!!! Thank You myspace for making me ‘LEARN’ something new..

Well, Im not a crybaby!!! I know how to copy paste and delete. BUT my old back ground is still there and i cant get rid of it. And because i cant get rid of it NOW i cant get a new back ground. FOR LISA;I had to play around, it took me a few days. Try what I did..I went to the edit on profile I now have my layouts stashed by theirselves after deleting them accidently from about me. Anyway I copied everything, and I do mean everything and deleted it from the about me portion, I then back arrowed until I found What I’d written about me,copied then pasted it in again! I then went to the like to meet & deleted that.Here’s where I screwed up..I did NOT save the changes..I did all that all over again,SAVED the changes,went to view my profile and made sure it was the standard default white page. Went to cool chaser made my layout ,saved my layout, clicked the copy button,did NOT right click(I think that cancelles the copy out), went to the edit profile and pasted it in to my people to meet box, SAVE CHANGES,did a captcha,then went to view my profile and it was there..I’ve now taken it 1 step further, ‘I’ create my own themes and post them on my profile. Its really easy I now have 14 themes under Realm of cougar-woman.
Do NOT give up hope keep going back and deleting, becareful not to delete what you wrote about yourself..Delete EVERYTHING else in the box,but that. You should be good to go..
Just leave what you did about you..take everything else out and SAVE CHANGES,check profile copy & paste. Really this is what I did,no lie. GOOD-LUCK..Let me know. I do have a myspace page.

i just figure it out, how to put the code manually first you copy the code on Coolchase make sure it is 2.0 form. you go to your myspace and click edit profile then. click customize Profile on the tabs you click control paneland on the menu under the “Advanced Edit” you click on “CSS” the clear the codes in there and paste you cool chase code then click publish and viola

I did exactly what your supposed too. I have profile 2.0 and I went to the CSS section of costomize profile on myspace, and put in the right code. The backround showed up but not the theme. This has happend before. With the other 2 backrounds I edited, it showed up fine, but now with this one, its not working!!! I didn’t do anything wrong, somthing must be wrong with your site!!!!

This new stuff really sucks. I didn’t change my background very often so for me the old way was hard to do. This new way really sucks I can’t figure out how to do it at all. I think I will try another source for getting a new background if I can’t find one I guess I am stuck with what I got now. I hope myspace changes things back like it was before.

yes it’s a pain but, I have not had a problem posting. it’s really not that hard to do. all you gotta do is make sure first that you don’t have a layout code in the about me section. then click custimize profile, then click the css tab. hit clear to make sure nothing is there, then paste, then saved. I have done 2 different layouts for my profile with very good results. also if you have changed anything in the advanced edit section, your profile will not look the same as it does on coolchaser, so you may want to hit the reset button, i think that is what it’s called, so your new layout will look like what it does on coolchaser.

I went to edit profile box and Deleted everything,EXCEPT what I
wrote about myself. Or delete that too and start from scratch.
Then save changes and view profile th see if it is a plain white page.If so go to cool chaser, If not, go back delete once again and save the changes. Your about me box should be empty except for what you’ve written about yourself.
Go to cool chaser, click the copy button,go to edit profile and paste it in. SAVE changes,view profile and it should be good to go. KEEP trying, create your own theme..it makes it even better!! Your pics on your page..sweet!!

Simple people,
MySpace is experiencing the economy crunch. They want you

OK!!! I want to do a new layout AND there is no button for the use media nor page arrows..what’s up dudes?? I’ve had NO problems until now..get on the ball and FIX it so those of us who KNOW how the hell to do the layout creations CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m totally over myspace it’s a HUGE joke and no fun. I preferred over facebook not anymore!!! I love thed the choices from coolchasers and how easy it was to use. I’m a huge car nut and not into the girly flower crap and that seems to be all I can find. So the hell with it I’m done with myspace. My friend is also stuck with her old layout it will not come off even after she has deleted everything. Just about everyone I talk to is closing their accounts with myspace. Everyone has had it!!!

Auto insert notification causes the CD to start playing or spin up upon closing the CD drive tray. In order to turn off the auto insert notification feature, first go into the ‘Device Manager.

ok so this is how i look at it myspace is taking everything away from us and giving us stuff we do not need at all it is really starting to turn into a bullshit site and i am pretty sure almost all of ya’ll are with me on this because its only the truth now its telling me “You may enter HTML/DHTML or CSS in any text field. Javascript is not allowed.

coolchaser is defninitely the best place to create beautiful layouts, quickly and easily. i have been using coolchaser for a long time! shame on myspace for not allowing the auto insert feature to be utilized currently. i’d be happy to pay a small fee for that service to continue! the auto insert feature is one of my favorite features!

This sucks! I tried to add the blog code but it didn’t take correctly so I clicked on NO to go back and edit it but myspace messed up and saved it! Now there is NO box with the EDIT buttons or the ADD NEW BLOG buttons…they are ALL GONE! I’ve written to myspace for help but they only send a standardize email without any help on how to get into this page to reedit it! HELP! I might have to trash my entire myspace blog!

I’m pretty peed off that they took off the auto tool cuz i got 2.0 nd i cnt change mii profile. I have been trying for ova 2 hours and every layout I have tried so far hasn’t worked. So I converted back to 1.0 nd NONE OF THEM WORKED AS WELL! itz pissing me off that I have to suffer. If otha ppl mess up well itz ther bad. Give me th tool, My myspace isn’t working without it and itz really getting on my nerves. I shouldn’t have to suffer for some otha persons mistakes.

Guys, guys, relax. For those of us who still have the original 1.0 format for Myspace layouts, it’s not as difficult as you’re making it out to be. All you have to do is copy the code for your layout, and paste it in your “About Me” section, like you would do with any other website’s code.
And to change the layout for your blog, copy the code from here, and on your homepage, go to “manage blog”, and from the menu boxes on the left side (underneath “My Controls”) select “customize blog.” Scroll down to the last section of the customizing options that says “Your Own Additional Style Sheet” and paste the blog code there. I just did it, and it only took about a minute and 30 seconds… Chill out man, you guys are such drama kings/queens. Stop being so lazy, y’all act like manual code entry is the end of the world. It’s just Myspace, geez… LMAO

And for those who keep asking “how do I delete my old layout?! bla bla bla…boo hoo, sob sob…” Take these steps:
1. Stop whining
2. Go to “edit profile” on Myspace
3. In the “About Me” section, highlight the code (for the slow people, that would be all the letters and symbols that look like gibberish).
4. Right click and hit “delete”…
Duuuuhhhhh….

attention i figured it out omfg if you are stuck with a permanent bckground go to myspace and hit customize profile look around until you see an editor for CSS go under css aka click on it and clear it all of it
